Governor Reynolds joined Michael Foods for grand opening
Norwalk, Iowa, Oct. 3, 2019 – Special guests, employees, and the public gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Michael Foods in Norwalk to kick off National Manufacturing Day. While the company already operates several facilities in Iowa, this is the first in the Des Moines metro area.
“We are excited to open our doors and officially join the Norwalk community,” said Mark Westphal, president, Michael Foods. “Our new neighbors have been great to work with throughout the development process. We chose Norwalk for its vibrant and energetic community as well as its proximity to our supply chain; no other location could match everything Norwalk has to offer.”
Attendees also heard from Governor Kim Reynolds and Norwalk Mayor Tom Phillips.
Each speaker highlighted the high-quality jobs Michael Foods is creating with their new facility. They also focused on the City of Norwalk’s continued efforts to foster a competitive business environment.
“It is a wonderful moment when national manufacturers select Iowa to grow,” Governor Kim Reynolds said. “Our state continues to draw prominent businesses because of our top-rated workforce and unmatched quality of life.
The 150,000-square-foot facility, which processes eggs and precooked egg products, is anticipated to add 168 jobs to Norwalk within its first two years and is located at Iowa’s first Certified Industrial Site operating at full business capacity.
